Prayer

Hi Friends!
I know it's been a while since I've posted, but you know how busy life can be. Okay, yes, I'm sorry, that's a lame excuse. I've been unsure about what to post next but I've found my topic. Today's post is about prayer.

How many times do you set something aside, take the time to sit down, and pray? I know that for me, it can be hard to sit down, be still, and pray. I find that sometimes I go through the motions as if it were a habit; for instance, before every meal, and so forth. When we do take the time to pray, what are we saying? Are we asking for things to be fixed? Are we asking for God to bless us? Are we talking and asking so much that we can't hear God's voice? If we don't take the time to praise him and be still, we can't hear His voice. Here is a video that demonstrates this topic.

The True Meaning of Christmas

Christmas will soon be upon us! As we enjoy the music, cookies, and everything about Christmas, it is very easy to forget the true meaning of Christmas. So, today I want to share with you a part of Luke chapter 2.

Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child. While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people;11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
14 Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”

Our Savior, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, was born in the lowliest place, a stable.  Angels, coming to the unwanted, unpopular shepherds, so that they too could share in the birth of our King.  Jesus didn't just come to save the rich; He also came for the poor and unwanted.  Jesus came to save us, the sinners; a king in Heaven being born into flesh to die for our sins. So when we wake on Christmas Day, before we run downstairs to search for gifts, thank the Lord for sending His only Son for us.  Remember, Jesus is the reason whey we celebrate.
